New ADHD Study

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

I was contacted recently by Ashley Senn, a school psychologist and graduate student at Walden University. She is in the process of earning her PhD and would like your help collecting research data regarding communication between parents of ADHD children and physicians as it pertains to non-pharmaceutical treatment options.

I know that many of you would be interested in alternative treatments for Attention Deficit Disorder, and I hope that you will take a few minutes to complete Ashley’s survey. Please see the rest of this post for details.

ADHD and Allergies

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Does your AD/HD child have allergies? The subject of allergies and Attention Deficit Disorder has been on my mind lately, probably because it’s September. My kids and I all suffer from seasonal allergies, mostly to pollen and mold, and September usually marks the beginning of our woes. We sniffle and sneeze and have sore throats until the first good snowfall, usually in January.

Help Me Help You with AD/HD

I did a teleclass last week for ADD Classes on ADD Teens: Making the Grade in School. I prepared for days; I knew what I wanted to say and how to say it, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get it all in. As it turned out, I was a bit nervous, talked too fast, forgot some of the finer points I wanted to make, but did manage to get in most of what I wanted to say. I must say, I was much more “together” and polished when talking to myself than I was to all those people on the phone, but I guess in the long run, it went OK, especially for my first time.

As you may know, I am teaching an online class on Sept. 18 for ADD Classes. It’s called “ADD Teens: Making the Grade in School”. Here’s a little sneak preview of one of the things I’m going to talk about. Don’t forget to check out the corresponding link in the box to the right.

Are You An ADD Parent?

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

The other day my son and I had a casual conversation about Attention Deficit Disorder, and I mentioned that his grandma - my mom - had ADD. Apparently this was no surprise to my son, who remembered grandma never walking, always running, to do whatever she needed to do, despite the fact that she was almost 88 years old when she died. (Shoveling snow at 3:00 am just because it was snowing was another fond memory.)
