Dreamers and Do-ers and ADD

My husband’s youngest brother is notorious in his family for “dreaming big and doing little”. When he was in his late teens and early twenties, he was constantly buying old junk cars with the intent of “fixing them up”. The fact that he never spent any time actually working on any car, knew little about the subject, and had no real interest in the actual work involved meant nothing. He could look at a rusted out piece of junk and see a classic car in it’s place, and that was enough to get him to part with his cash.

Those of you who have read this blog for a while know that my mom had Attenton Deficit Disorder. I was thinking today about something she used to do that I’ve done myself more times than I can count.
My mom would call me up and ask me if I knew where she had put something. Even after she and my dad retired to Florida and were a thousand miles away, she would call and ask.

This afternoon, a friend of my husband’s stopped by unexpectedly, and he brought his girlfriend with him. Maybe that’s an OK thing with you, but it produced a little bit of anxiety in me.
It might have partially been because I was still in my pajamas (yes, I did say this afternoon, but it was Saturday and I can if I want), but the bigger issue was that, like many other people with Attention Deficit Disorder, my social skills are not the best.
