Welcome back!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. When was the last time you did a self exam for lumps or had a mammogram? And what does this have to do with ADHD?
Simple. As ADD Moms, we have a tendency to forget, and as moms in general, we’re really good at putting ourselves last.
Remembering to make a yearly appointment like a mammogram is something that could easily slip off our radar. If we have a good doctor, they may remind us to make that appointment when we see them. But seriously, how often do you go to the doctor?
If you’re like me, you won’t hesitate to get your kids to the doctor when they’re sick, but you put off going yourself. The last time I saw a doctor, it was for a really bad chronic cough that I had had for about a year. Yes! A year. I only went because my daughter made me and my sister in law scared me into it.
You are important to your family. What would they do without you? You owe it to them to take good care of yourself and stop putting yourself last.
So here’s the plan:
You need to do a monthly self exam every month without fail. And because you have ADHD, you’re going to have trouble remembering to do that.
That’s why you’re going to go here (RIGHT NOW) and sign up for the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s free email reminder service. Do it now. I’ll wait.
Oh, and while you’re at it - sign up for the yearly mammogram reminder too. It will pop up after you sign up for the monthly one or you can find it here.
There now - you’ve taken 2 positive steps towards taking better care of yourself and your family. Now get on that phone and make that mammogram appointment!
