From My Heart

by Brenda on December 10, 2009

Dear Friends,

The video below tells a story that comes from my heart. For a few days now, it has been on my mind to share it with you. I wanted you to hear it directly from me - my own voice - and originally intended to record it. At the last minute, I decided that a video was the best way to do it, even though I am extremely uncomfortable with being on video.

In fact, I am so far out of my comfort zone here that once I recorded it, I didn’t play it back to see if it was OK. I hope that you will let me know if there are any glaring errors in it.

I call this the Christmas Story, but it’s really about a lot more than that, and not much about Christmas at all. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, this might still be relevant for you, because it’s really about life with ADHD.

Thanks for watching.

Thank you SO much for the story. I only recently found out I had ADD. Before that I thought I was just bad at everything. I’ve been a stay at home mom for 7 years, and have been struggling with it (keeping house, shuttling kids around, getting bills paid on time, etc.)
Your blog has been such a help with practical suggestions and you really GET how the ADD mind works. There have been several times when I’ve been stuck in overwhelm mode that your blog has given me the needed slap on the back of the head (“snap out of it!”) and I’ve been very grateful for that.
Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone today. I enjoyed the video, and hope you make more. And thank you for doing what you do. It really does help.

thank you so much!! Although I have never went back to a full time job after having kids I KNOW if I did I would have went to EXACTLY what you have gone thru. I am so glad you have this blog, and site…. I am 43, dx’d 10 yrs. ago. Nobody not even my family know I have ADD. Except my mom who has it. And Wow, you just hit the nail on the head. thanks.

I found your video by accident on youtube, and I really think it’s great. Thank you so much for sharing your story, your honesty is inspiring, and it really makes me open my eyes about my own life. I have ADD and am juggling two kids with Autism. As you can imagine, it’s chaos here almost all of the time.
