Why Women Need Fat

Following is a book review for “Why Women Need Fat” by William D. Lassek, M.D. and Steven J.C. Gaulin, PhD. I was compensated for the review, but the opinions are mine.

Why Women Need Fat

You may wonder how that is relevant to a blog about women who have Attention Deficit Disorder.

In fact, it is very relevant.

If you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you know that I consider a good healthy diet to be an important part of managing your ADHD.

And while you might not know it, your ADHD can hamper your attempts at dieting. You know how we start new projects with enthusiasm and then quickly lose interest? It happens when we try to diet to lose weight too.

Finally, some of the ideas presented in “Why Women Need Fat” are good for your brain as well as your body. A healthier brain = more manageable ADD symptoms.

I think that every woman should read “Why Women Need Fat”.

It is a must read and one of the most important books I’ve read in a while.

In fact, I’m taking steps right away to implement the ideas from the book into my family’s life.

I am going to make sure that both of my daughters read it, especially Sarah and her husband because they are expecting and on Monday I am going to tell my doctor about it so that she can share it with her other patients.

“Why Women Need Fat” is written by a public health doctor and an anthropologist and it explores why women need fat, why we have unwanted fat, and what to do about it.

You would expect a book written by such science minded men to be dull or difficult to read, but that is not the case. I found it easy to read and understand and the stories about real women in the book made even the scientific parts make sense.

This book will turn around everything you thought you knew about healthy food and weight. I strongly urge you to check it out and put it’s ideas to use.

I know I will.
