Lifeskills Day Planner

Have you been searching for the “perfect” planner forever?

One that helps you stay on track and remember what you need to do?

Do you often buy more than one planner per year, hoping to find “the one”?

Well look no more!

If you’re an ADD Mom who’s searching for the perfect planner to keep track of your days, then the Lifeskills Planner is for you!

My name is Brenda Nicholson and I am an ADD Mom. In addition, I have an entire family with ADHD! That’s a lot to manage!

I’ve been buying planners forever hoping to find just the right one that would help me keep my life on track.

Lifeskills Planner

Finally I decided to make my own.

I love my Lifeskills Planner and I think you will too. Here’s why:

The Lifeskills Planner was designed for ADD Moms.

That means that this is more than just a collection of calendar pages. The Lifeskills Planner puts structure into your days, your weeks, and your life.

You have a Master To Do List.

I call it the Dump List. This is where you “dump” all the things that you have to do: calls to make, errands to run, things to get done. It’s that big list that tends to float around in your head - things you need to do that don’t necessarily have a time frame attached to them. Each week you will choose 3 and schedule them into your calendar. That’s how they get done!

Each week begins with a Weekly Planning Session.

Sunday evening you will sit down with your Lifeskills Planner and plan your week. You will list any upcoming appointments or activities, and if that means a quick and easy dinner, you’ll plan for that too.

Anything special you need to remember to do this week? A field trip with the kids or lunch with a friend? Note it in your Weekly Plan.

Now is also the time to look back at your Dump List and choose 3 things to get done this week. Note them in your Planning Session.

Now that you have a plan, schedule it into your week.

Take all of those plans and appointments and actually schedule them into your weekly calendar. List your 3 to do’s and schedule them into your day. There’s even a reminder to take care of you - by getting enough sleep, taking your vitamins and getting some exercise.

You have a place to plan your meals.

No more wondering what’s for dinner or lunch. No more “chicken” for dinner without the sides. It’s all set up for you. Plan your meals in your weekly planning session and then fill them in for the week. Lunches and sides too. There’s even a reminder to include lean proteins and dark, colorful fruits and veggies, cause they’re good for you and your ADHD.

You have a place to remind you about bills to pay.

During your weekly planning session, look ahead to see what bills are due this week. Now make a note of them, along with the amount. You can also note the check number or confirmation number once you pay them.

You’ve got a daily routine already done for you.

30 minutes a day to keep your house in order. Just a reminder of the basic things that need to be taken care of each day: keeping the kitchen and bathroom in order, doing some laundry, and clearing out a little clutter. You don’t even need 30 minutes all at once. A little here and a little there, and it gets done!

Finally, a little gratitude.

As you wrap up your week and get ready to plan the next, take a little time to record things that you were grateful for this week. Each of us has so many blessings in our lives; let’s remember a few of them each week.

But wait, there’s more!

Can’t you just hear the OxyClean guy saying that?

Well, there is more. At the back of the Lifeskills Planner, you have a place to record important information. One of the things I use it for is to list each bill I pay - house payment, electric, etc - by due date, along with the account number and login information. You can use yours however you want.

There’s also a place for recording where you put things. You know, we’re always putting important things in a “safe place” so they won’t get lost, and then we can’t remember where we put them. Now you’ll know!

You get a video to help you get started, just in case you need some help.

Getting a planner and actually using the planner are two different things. The video will show you how and motivate you to actually put the planner to use.

Brenda November 10, 2011 at 2:30 pm

Thanks for letting me know. I will check that.

Brenda November 10, 2011 at 2:31 pm

Yes each month has a monthly view followed by weekly ones.

Marian - I tried the link for the pages inside and it worked for me. It’s a PDF; do you have a reader installed on your computer? It’s usually no problem to open them. If you need one, you can get it here.

If you’re talking about the link to planner help, that’s a Power Point file. If you don’t have Power Point you can get a free reader at this site.
